Mattress cleaning in Warsaw - clean where you spend a third of your life

We spend about a third of every day on a mattress, and yet it is the piece of furniture easiest to forget about. During the night a person gives off between 0.3 and 0.5 litres of sweat, plus flaked skin, sebum, cosmetic residue and dust. All of it soaks into the foam layer and becomes food for house dust mites, whose droppings are among the most common inhaled allergens in Polish homes. • Single mattress - PLN 99 on one side, PLN 198 on both sides (regular prices PLN 110 and 220).
• Double mattress - PLN 144 on one side, PLN 252 on both sides (regular prices PLN 160 and 280).
• Upholstered bed with headboard - PLN 171 (frame and headboard together).
• Headboard on its own - PLN 108.
• Blower drying - PLN 80, about 30 minutes.

The minimum order is PLN 150. With a single mattress it is worth adding a second one from the child's room or a headboard - in one visit it works out cheaper. The price does not change on site and does not depend on the level of soiling; stain removal is always included. Travel within Warsaw is free.

One side or both

If the mattress is double-sided and you turn it regularly, cleaning both sides makes sense - both surfaces are in use. If the mattress has a sleeping layer on one side only (typical for foam and pocket models with a comfort layer), cleaning the side you sleep on is enough. Where there is a visible stain showing through on the other side, we always suggest cleaning both sides, because the soiling has gone right through.

Mattress cleaning step by step

• Assessment and test - we check the type of cover and how the fabric reacts to water and the product in a hidden spot.
• Vacuuming - we take dust, skin and hair off the surface and out of the seams. This stage decides the final result.
• Stain treatment - sweat marks and urine are broken down with the enzymatic Enz-All, blood stains are treated cold so they are not set.
• Extraction cleaning - the solution enters the top layer under pressure and the machine draws it straight back out with the dirt and the allergens.
• Odour neutralisation - where needed we use Kill Odor Plus, which breaks down the odour molecules instead of masking them.
• Maximum extraction - several passes without delivering water, so the mattress is damp rather than wet.
• Drying - we position the mattress so air circulates on both sides and, on request, finish with a blower.

How long a mattress takes to dry

A mattress dries longer than a sofa because its filling layer is much thicker - usually 10 to 15 hours. That is why it is best to book cleaning in the morning: you can then sleep in your own bed the same evening. For double-sided cleaning we add extra time to turn and dry the second side.

A few simple things speed up drying: an open window, a fan pointed along the mattress, a higher room temperature and standing the mattress upright against a wall. Do not put on bedding or a protector until the surface is dry to the touch - trapped moisture is the shortest route to a musty smell. If you need to sleep on it the same night, order blower drying (PLN 80); it usually halves the time.

Mites, allergies and mattress cleaning

House dust mites feed on flaked skin and thrive in a warm, damp environment - which is exactly what a used mattress is. The symptoms of an allergy are typical: sneezing in the morning, a blocked nose, coughing and irritated eyes that stop once you leave the house and come back at night. Extraction cleaning rinses the allergens out of the top layer together with the dust and skin, which surface vacuuming alone cannot achieve.

For allergy sufferers we recommend cleaning the mattress every 6 months plus an anti-allergy protector washed at 60 degrees every few weeks. With children who have atopic skin or asthma it is worth adding the child's mattress and the headboard to the job - that is the closest environment to the head during sleep.

Children's mattresses, after illness and after spills

We clean children's mattresses with particular care: less moisture, a gentler product and longer extraction, so the child can be back in bed the same day. For bedwetting we use enzymes - they break the urea down instead of spreading it, so the smell does not come back after a few days.

After an infectious illness or a long period in bed it is worth combining cleaning with odour neutralisation. After a spill on the mattress (water, tea, wine) time is crucial: the sooner you call, the smaller the chance that mould develops in the filling. For mattresses that stood wet for a week in a closed room we honestly advise against cleaning and say so directly - in such a case no service will bring them back into use.

Upholstered beds and headboards

The frame of an upholstered bed collects dust from the whole room, and the headboard is in constant contact with hair and cosmetics - over time dark, greasy marks appear on it. We clean the headboard separately (PLN 108) or together with the frame (PLN 171). For beds with a bedding container it is worth emptying the box beforehand and leaving it open - we will vacuum the inside as well.

What we clean mattresses with

We work with professional Santoemma extraction cleaners - Grace with two three-stage motors of 1500 W in total, and the compact SW 30 where manoeuvrability matters, for example in small bedrooms and children's rooms. High water lift (the High-Waterlift system) decides how much moisture stays in the mattress after cleaning - the more the machine draws out, the shorter the drying and the lower the risk of odour.

For chemistry we use products certified for domestic use. Enz-All breaks down protein soiling: sweat, urine, blood and milk. Kill Odor Plus neutralises odours instead of covering them. For children's mattresses and delicate fabrics we choose products with a lower pH and a weaker concentration. After rinsing, no sticky film stays in the mattress that would attract dust faster than before cleaning.

What mattress cleaning will not fix

• Dents and lost springiness - if the foam is worn out and the mattress has a permanent hollow, cleaning improves hygiene but will not bring the firmness back.
• Mould deep in the filling - black mould patches after a spill mean the growth is inside. In such cases we advise against cleaning and say so directly.
• Odour from below - if urine has gone through the mattress onto the base or the floor, the mattress itself will stop smelling but the problem will come back from underneath. The base then has to be washed too.
• Tears and worn covers - that is a job for an upholsterer or a replacement cover, not for cleaning.

We say this openly because we would rather talk you out of a service than take money for a result that cannot be achieved. If the conversation shows that cleaning only partly makes sense, we will propose a cheaper scope - for example the top layer only instead of both sides.

The most common questions about mattress cleaning

• Does the mattress have to be carried somewhere? No. We clean it in the bedroom, on the bed or leaning against a wall. Access to power and hot water is enough.
• Will the yellow stain disappear? Sweat marks in most cases lighten clearly or come out completely. With marks several years old we say before cleaning what result to expect.
• Can I sleep on it the same night? With morning cleaning and blower drying, yes. With afternoon cleaning it is better to plan to sleep elsewhere or move the booking to the morning.
• Do you clean foam and latex mattresses? Yes, using less moisture and more intensive extraction so the filling does not soak up water.
• Are the products safe for a child? Yes. We use certified professional chemistry, which we rinse out of the fabric; once dry, the mattress does not smell of chemicals.
• How often should a mattress be cleaned? As a standard every 12 months; with an allergy, a child or a pet in the bed - every 6 months.

A mattress in a rented flat

When tenants change, cleaning the mattress is the cheapest way to make the flat look good and to stop the next tenant starting with complaints. One double mattress costs PLN 144 - many times less than a replacement, and the difference in look and smell is immediate. For landlords we usually do a set: mattresses, headboards and the living-room sofa in one visit.

If the flat is empty, the service can be booked at any hour and there is no need to fit around the household's routine. A morning slot is then best - the mattress will have dried before an evening viewing.
