The problem is that ordinary vacuuming only takes what lies on top of the pile - the rest settles at the base of the fibres and stays there. • Carpet in a flat - PLN 22 per m².
• Fitted carpeting in a flat - PLN 22 per m².
• Small rug up to 2 m² - PLN 40 each.
• Office carpeting - from PLN 13 per m² for 100-200 m², PLN 14 for 50-100 m², PLN 15 up to 50 m².
• Blower drying - PLN 80, about 30 minutes.

The minimum order is PLN 150, which is roughly a carpet of 7 m². If your carpet is smaller, it is worth adding a sofa, an armchair or a mattress to the job - one visit is always cheaper than two. We give the price before we arrive and do not change it on site, and stain removal is always included. Travel within Warsaw is free.

How we clean a carpet

• Assessment - we check the type of pile and backing and how the dyes react to water in a hidden spot.
• Thorough vacuuming - we take sand and pet hair out of the pile. This is the most important stage: wet sand turns into mud and makes cleaning harder.
• Stain treatment - we apply products spot by spot, chosen for the type of stain: enzymatic ones for urine and blood, grease-dissolving ones for food and cosmetics.
• Extraction cleaning - the solution is delivered under pressure deep into the pile and the machine immediately draws it back out with the dirt. On heavily soiled carpets we repeat the passes.
• Rinsing - we remove the remains of the product so the pile is not stiff after drying and does not collect dust faster than before.
• Extraction and lifting the pile - several passes without water, and at the end brushing the pile so the carpet looks even.

Types of carpet and what follows from them

Synthetic carpets (polyester, polypropylene, nylon) take extraction cleaning very well and dry quickly - this is the most common type in Polish homes. Long-pile, shaggy carpets need more passes and longer extraction, because the water goes right down to the base. Wool carpets we clean more gently, with a lower pH and less moisture, so the fibre does not felt. Cotton and double-woven carpets as well as kilim-type mats can shrink - with those we always warn about the risk and propose a more cautious approach.

A separate category is silk, viscose and hand-woven oriental carpets. Viscose reacts to water - the fibre stiffens and changes shade - so we do not clean such carpets with the wet method and we say so openly instead of risking damage to an expensive item. How long a carpet takes to dry

A carpet with a normal pile usually dries in 4 to 8 hours, shaggy and thick wool carpets take up to 12 hours. The time depends on the temperature, the airflow and whether the carpet lies on the floor or is raised. After cleaning it is best not to put furniture on it or walk on it in shoes for a few hours; if you have to cross it, do so in clean socks.

Drying is helped by an open window, a fan set along the surface, or the blower you can order from us (PLN 80). In flats with underfloor heating a carpet dries noticeably faster. What you should not do is put film or mats on a damp carpet, because then the moisture has no way of evaporating.

Carpets with pets, children and allergies

With a dog or a cat at home the carpet takes on hair, saliva and odour, and after accidents also urine. An ordinary detergent only spreads the urea around, which starts to smell again once dry. We use an enzymatic product that breaks down the protein soiling plus an odour neutraliser that does not mask the problem with perfume. If the backing is soaked deep through, we warn that part of the smell may come from the underlay rather than from the pile itself.

In homes with small children the carpet is the first play surface, which is why we always ask about allergies and choose gentler chemistry. After cleaning and drying the carpet does not smell of chemicals and leaves no sticky film - important, because a child touches the pile with hands and face.

How often to clean carpets

In an average flat once a year is enough. In the hall, the corridor and homes with pets a sensible interval is 6 to 8 months. A carpet in a rarely used room can go longer, but it is still worth cleaning if someone in the flat has allergies. Regular cleaning is not only about looks - sand at the base of the pile acts like sandpaper and cuts the fibres with every step, so the carpet loses springiness and wears out faster.

Between cleanings, the most useful things are regular vacuuming in two directions and a doormat at the entrance. Blot fresh stains with paper towel by pressing, never by rubbing, and do not pour water on them - that spreads the stain over a larger area and leaves a ring harder to remove than the stain itself.

What we clean carpets with

For carpets and carpeting we use Prochem Steempro 2000 and Santoemma Grace extraction cleaners. The first has a 250 psi pump and a 2.8 kW Heat&Run water heater - a warm solution dissolves grease better and high pressure reaches the base of the pile. The second runs on two three-stage motors with 70-litre tanks, so on larger areas there is no need to stop and change the water.

The chemistry is chosen for the soiling rather than universal: enzymes for protein soiling, higher-pH products for grease, an odour neutraliser where a pet is the problem. We rinse all the products out so that after drying the pile is soft and does not collect dust faster than before.

Cleaning fitted carpeting in a flat

Carpeting glued to the floor has one advantage over a carpet - it does not slide or curl - and one drawback: it cannot be taken up and carried out. That is why we always clean it in place, pass by pass, controlling the amount of moisture so water does not get underneath and unstick the material from the floor. Carpeting in hallways and corridors usually needs more passes - these are the places where most street sand is brought in.

Cleaning carpeting in a flat costs PLN 22 per m², the same as a carpet. For larger areas in houses and commercial premises we charge by the office rates, which start at PLN 13 per m².

The most common questions about carpet cleaning

• Do I need to roll up the carpet and move the furniture? No. We clean in place. Just take small items off the carpet; we will move light furniture ourselves.
• Will the carpet shrink after cleaning? With synthetic carpets there is practically no such risk. With wool and cotton we use less moisture and warn about possible minimal shrinkage.
• Will you remove the pet smell? In most cases yes, thanks to enzymes and a neutraliser. If the urine has gone into the backing, we say so before cleaning.
• How long does cleaning a 15 m² carpet take? Usually about an hour, plus drying time.
• Do you clean carpeting glued to the floor? Yes, that is our everyday service both in flats and in offices.
• Do you issue invoices? Yes, to companies and private individuals. Payment by cash, card or transfer after the service.

Home remedies that harm carpets

• Pouring water on a stain - it spreads the soiling over a larger area and leaves a ring harder to remove than the stain itself.
• Scrubbing with a brush - it mechanically damages the fibre and lightens the pile, so a paler patch shows once dry.
• Vinegar and baking soda for everything - with some dyes they permanently change the shade; cleaning cannot undo it.
• Hot water on blood and milk - it sets the protein, after which even enzymes work less well.
• A consumer wet vacuum without extraction - it delivers water but does not take enough of it back, so the carpet dries for a full day and starts to smell.
